I don't know what this is. [profile] ivorysilk started prodding me toward writing White Collar fic last night, I had Grimm bunnies in my head, and then this happened. I'm not even sure if it's crack or not, though it sure feels like it.

Should I post this to a fic comm? I don't know.

Have you guys ever written a story just to scratch an itch, only to discover after you post it that the itch hasn't been scratched at all, but has now morphed into a full-on rash, because now the main character in said fic keeps tugging at your shirt and crying, "Write me! Write me!" even while you're in the middle of writing another fic that has nothing to do with him, and which you have been yearning to get back to, but now this new bunny keeps chomping at your toes?

Well, that's my writing life right now. Curse my love for minor characters!

Word Count: 499

I'm so addicted to this show. Though I could deal with less bunnies. Because, really, there are real life things and original writing that need doing. Yet the bunnies beckon so nicely.

The fandom meetup this weekend was so amazing! I had loads of fun. It was so great to interact with fandom people in person, share ideas, get fic inspiration, squee over the shows. And now, thanks to them, I've moved on from only watching White Collar to reading fic. Incidentally, I've noticed that said fic involves three things that I often find it hard to get into in fandom. In order of increasing rarity, it's threesomes, het pairings, and canon pairings. Neal/Elizabeth/Peter, of course, involves all three. It had to happen eventually, I suppose. I love fandom.

I could deal with it being less cold outside, though. That I'm not loving so much.

ETA: What is up with my ankle? Ir was fine, then I went out into the cold to buy food, and now it hurts. Stupid cold. This is the ankle I sprained last year. That might have something to do with it.

Thanks to the lovely [personal profile] visiblemarket, I now have two new bunnies, never mind that I owe someone a fill on the Grimm kinkmeme and I have a ridiculously long sequel to write, I now have two new bunnies.

This is too cute.

This one just invites mischievousness.

Because, I'm going up to Chicago, I don't care what the weather does. Although it's supposed to be much lighter snow than today, so it should be okay. Besides, people here go out no matter how much snow is blowing around. At least I'll be taking the train, not driving. I'm going to my first fandom meetup. *bounces with excitement*

It has been nasty today, though. The snow plows have been making their rounds all day. Still, it could be worse. The weatherman mentioned that if this were the third snowstorm of the season instead of the first, we wouldn't be making a big deal out of it, and it's true. I've driven in stuff like this when I didn't have to. It's a little nutty when I think about it.

Meanwhile, I'm flailing everywhere because there's finally a new Grimm episode tomorrow. And I saw a promo pic for Of Mouse and Man that is driving me even crazier. Darn you, show! You're too addictive.

It's 40°F and sunny. In January. It is actually sunny in January without snow being on the ground. All we've seen of snow is a couple of sprinklings and that's it. Tomorrow the high is 46°. I know it's all going to go the way of Dante's Hell eventually, but just having this amount of beautiful warmth up to this point makes this the best IL winter ever. I even turned the heater down. *runs off to bask in the sunlight*

Also, I'm officially doomed to write longer stories than I want to handle. The first chapter of my newest fic is 9,000 words long. Honestly, Surrender with its 24,000 words didn't feel overly long to me compared to the original novel work I've been doing, but now it feels a bit smaller. Why must I keep writing monsters?

I was watching a cute show about cats and shows to cheer myself up and going "aww" a lot, when suddenly one of the sweet dogs died of cancer. Oh c'mon! That's too sad. Then I remembered my dog nephew dying of cancer and it all went downhill. Needless to say, I'm currently watching The Big Bang Theory. So much better.

I've noticed that I can't handle watching or hearing extreme awkwardness, yet I love writing it. It's a little odd. Then again, the awkwardness is often angst-related and I love writing angst too much for my own good. Hence my now working on an angst fest that's even longer than the last one. I will never learn.

I watched most of the episode of Sherlock (the 72 minutes were up and then writing imposed upon me) and now I'm putting Sherlock fic in my Sony Reader. Darn it. I hoped I wouldn't do that. I really do not have time write and, and yet... Maybe I will get the creative juices flowing. Yep. I'm sticking with that.

While looking through Superstitions of Britain and Ireland by Steve Roud, I noticed what the Grimm writers may have been inspired by with the Mellifer. The book says that bees:

Also, I'm noticing I have the most ridiculously healthy comfort foods. Lentils, frozen blueberries, grapes, raisin bread, rice in various forms. I also like the traditional apple pie, French toast, fries, pizza, but I get those less often due to lack of funds. Darn you, lack of funds! Meanwhile, I just stuffed myself silly with lentils.

One of the professors from my old university wrote Don Quixote fanfiction. It's more of a commentary on the state of online literature, but it counts.
Food-wise, at least. My grandmother made arroz con leche last night, which is sweet rice goodness with cinnamon on top. Then today, she made turkey and potato tacos, rice with tomato sauce, lentils, and now she's making fish. Mmm. I shall try not to inhale all the arrow con leche and the lentils like last time, but it might be a close call.

I've finally managed to calm down about the The Hobbit trailer being out after two days of bouncing around everywhere, but OMG Galadriel! OMG Thorin! OMG Bilbo! OMG Gandalf! OMG we're going to have Middle Earth Christmas again! OMG!!!

Alright, maybe I haven't calmed down that much. The thing is, Tolkienverse was my first huge obsession and fandom. It's what dragged me from writing one short story a year because I didn't think I was any good to becoming a regular writer. I'd read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings in 8th grade, but after FOTR came out, I read every single book there was, as well as spent a disgusting amount of money on merchandise. My Witchking sword is still hanging in the living room. My grandfather is quite proud of it now. I've missed the fandom these last few years. The fact that the wonderful Martin Freeman is Bilbo makes it so much sweeter.

Also, I have a Dreamwidth account, if anyone is interested, though at the moment I'm only using it for the Grimm kinkmeme. Kinkmemes are first priority, you know?
