Fic update and movie question

The long promised (since before my trip to Mexico; wow) Steve/Sam fic is almost done and the first chapter will most likely appear tomorrow. The first draft of the convalescing Claude fic is also done. Finally. It would have been done sooner, but I had to throw out my original draft and start from scratch. It's not as lighthearted as the first one, unfortunately.

In other news, the research is going steady, though a tad slower than I'd like. I'm finally going to see one of my friends today (yay), though the poor guy has bronchitis, so we're just going to watch movies at his place.

Which would be better for a weekend movie outing with my dad? Terminator, Wolverine, or Night at the Museum? I have no idea. Any thoughts?

I don't know about the other two, but my parents saw Night at the Museum today and they said it was really good. So that one's a safe bet. :)

That's probably the one we'll see, anyway. He really liked the first one.

Perhaps it is a bit late for me to chime in on this, but I'm going to put in a good word for Up (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1049413/). Because it is gorgeous and magical and awesome. I saw it with both my parents and they loved it.

That'd be wonderful. Unfortunately, it doesn't come out here until next weekend. Very few movies come out the same weekend as the US. *shakes fist at movie industry. Unless we go next Thursday, the day before he leaves. That's the day new movies start here since it's considered the unofficial start of the weekend (wait till Friday? C'mon! That's too long!)

Yeah, that occurred to me after I posted, that you guys might not get it quite yet. I'd say see it the minute you have a chance; it is just that...uplifting is a horrible pun to make, but I'm totally going to go there, because I love it so much.

We do get most movies before before most other countries, I think. Most big, splashy action movies we get on the same weekend as the US (and since we start on Friday, it's also a day earlier ;). But Watchmen came out in the UK at the same time as in the US, yet PR didn't get it until 2 weeks later! (And of course, with essays and all, I didn't see it until after my PR friends did).

I want to see it! I hear Pixar and I already want to see it.

I guess Watchmen, with the Alan Moore connection, was seen to appeal as much to Brits as Americans; same with Harry Potter, I think they get it the same day.

You'll love it :D

They better come out with HP on the same day! JK Rowling would have a fit otherwise.

Whereas Alan Moore has fits if they come out at all ;) But yes. I rather like JK Rowling's reaction to the HP movies.

Alan Moore is such a purist, and of course they get even more neurotic when it's their own stuff.

She does have to approve the scripts first before they start filming, so at leas on that side it's a done deal. And they got Cuaron for the third one because he's one of her favourite directors.

Alan Moore is just an odd duck, to put it mildly. But you know, some of the best writers out there are, so I'm not going to judge.

Aw, really? My esteem for good old JKR has gone up significantly knowing that.

Terminator, Wolverine, or Night at the Museum?

I like X-men and Wolverine (the character) so I saw that movie the weekend it was out. I found it to be a good and enjoyable movie. The story line is okay, some of the more hardcore fans complain about it, but I didn't find it as bad as some other movies. Hugh Jackman is in there so it is an added bonus. It is action but it is not stuffed down into your throat.

I saw Terminator yesterday because "Up" was sold out (Pfff... more like ran out of 3D glasses), and this movie is action packed. Actually it feels more like the movie prepares you for the next one between the explosions that happen left and right. So if you want to see something with giant robots, a prequel to it, and LOTS of actions (like 1 hours of action before really getting to the plot), then you could go see that movie.

And I didn't see Night at the Museum yet, I have to watch the first one before... But I guess the mood of this movie is less heavier than the other two.

Hope that it helped.

Now I don't know what to watch! There's something I find appealing in all of them, but not overwhelmingly so. I think I'll let dad decide since it's his last weekend.
