I am officially part of the X First Class fandom

Well, I guess reading and writing fic already made that official, but I was resisting. But now I'm commenting on a discussion post. There's no turning back. Well, I did miss fandom. And it is the only thing keeping the depression at bay these days since all my friends are way too busy to see me. I may as well resign myself to it.

And bunnies keep multiplying in my brain! If I were writing 24/7 I couldn't keep up with them all. *shakes head* I can't remember the last time this happened.

Aw, well, I hope you're having fun!

[identity profile] guanin.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I am! Although my policy to not get too involved has been torn to pieces and a bonfire made out of it.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, well. I'm kind of surprised at myself for managing to stay out of it as much as I have. I've barely read any fic. I'm mostly just enjoying/LOL-ing at all the pictures with funny captions about it.

[identity profile] guanin.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't read that much fic, but it's enough to count. Oh, the captions. I missed how hilarious fandom can be.

Is there much that's not Erik/Charles? Because that's mostly what I've seen, but not actually read.

[identity profile] guanin.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Very little. A Sean/Hank one will pop up hear and there, but Erik/Charles owns the fandom. Although I have to say, this is one of the few times were I actually love the main pairing of a fandom, even though I'm doing my usual and writing the little, overlooked pairing,

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, yeah, I'm usually meh on most popular pairings, but I adore Erik/Charles, because it's full of things I love, namely 1) they do seem to like each other 2) class differences abound 3) tragedy is inevitable but 4) said tragedy could be overcome in AU form, obviously. But I wouldn't write for them. I'm doing my usual "overthinking minor character who disappeared too early and inventing backstory for him".

[identity profile] guanin.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! Precisely! And it's so tragic, yet it can be fluffy and adorable, but in the end they're ripped apart by different perspectives and angst abounds. But minor characters are funner to write. I feel like there's more you can contribute with them. And they need love, too.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I like to think one day they will get over themselves and be BFF/husbands. And go on vacation together, etc. (http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq17/visiblemarket/tumblr_lmsgn87Wqm1ql0r7ao1_500.jpg) Yeah, seriously, minor characters who are also minorities need a lot of love. Darwin, obviously, and I even feel like making an effort with Angel, even though I do not get that girl and her motivation in the least.

[identity profile] guanin.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
They just need to get married. Oh, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are so cute together. I love them. Angel is popping up in a couple of my Azazel/Riptide fics out of necessity, but I'm not sure what to do with her. I don't get her, either.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
They do indeed. And have lots of cute old people sex. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan are beyond precious. (http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq17/visiblemarket/tumblr_lmg8jsk20I1ql7np6o1_500.png) There were a lot of flaws in XM:FC, but Angel's whole "Guess I will be evil then, 'kay" moment was up there in the most annoying for me.

[identity profile] guanin.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad I had already finished my cereal when I saw that pic, cause I laughed so hard. Everything about how the handled Angel was so wrong. I get that she was pissed at the CIA guys, but going with the people who massacred them seems a little much. It was way too abrupt.

You may also enjoy this one. (http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq17/visiblemarket/tumblr_ln5xfk6PWi1ql4px3o1_500.jpg) Plus I mean, there were like three FBI guys being douchey to her, and the rest of them fought and died, like, fought and died really hard trying to protect all the kids. I mean okay one dude, maybe, did the whole "Just take the mutants and let us normal people live!!!" thing, but that was a) way too convenient and b) just one person, at the end. Plus, after she left, and she showed absolutely no compunction at, I don't know, having to kill the friends she'd made earlier? I just...I don't even.

[identity profile] guanin.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
*snort* These captions are too funny. I know! Unless she was already leaning towards evil, but they didn't show anything like that at all. It just makes no sense.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
They really are. I have a ridiculous amount over on my photobucket account. This amused me. (http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq17/visiblemarket/tumblr_lndm6cRrQj1ql4px3o1_500.jpg) Yeah, I mean, if I felt like making the effort, I would point out that the girl was working in a strip club in the '60s, which was probably not a sign of a lot of prospects or mental/emotional stability or great family life. So it's entirely possible she had issues (daddy issues would be statistically likely, for that demographic) and that Shaw walking in and being all IN CONTROL and SURE OF HIMSELF and DANGEROUS probably had some appeal to a messed up girl with problems like hers. But we got absolutely no indication that she was any kind of messed up like that, so. And then she's in her pretty dress, clinking glasses with Shaw and looking kind of brainwashed, which is...weird.

Poor Azazel is going to faint. That's the fic I'm writing right now, though that one's not quite so funny. Poor Janos. I get that they didn't have time to really get into individual characters, but she got major short shrift compared to some of the other ones, so it's so hard to determine motives or background, or anything really. That does sound like a plausible assessment, though yes, they don't show anything of the sort. She was nicely partying with her new friends, then one of them gets murdered in front of her and she yet she still goes with his killers. WTF?
