I need to exercise more

I kinda wish Yahoo wouldn't keep putting their "Don't eat This" sections on the homepage. Pretty soon I won't be able to eat any of my favorite dishes at restaurants without feeling like a tub of lard. Not that eat much at restaurants anyway, but I did not need to know that the favorite restaurant of everyone back home is public enemy #1. *sigh* Then again, this column would probably black list half of Puerto Rican food, because we fry everything. Ah, the vestiges of an age when people were actually moving all day and not withering in a cubicle slowly dying from capitalism inertia. You remember me calling an office job my nightmare job? I was right. I don't even have a window! I feel like I'm drowning if I can't see the outside world.

I think [livejournal.com profile] hippiediva's got it- it's all about moderation. As long as you get a little bit of everything, you're golden. And also I think that everyone's nutritional needs are different. One diet that keeps one person healthy might not for another person. It's all about body chemistry and genetics and such.

Anyway, sorry the cubicle's getting you down. In the office, I only get a window if a certain door is open. Otherwise, it's just me and the computer, though we don't have walls around our desks, so I can talk to folks too. I suggest getting up every hour or two and taking a little walk, maybe go find a window. (Though if the outside looks like it does in my icon, run.)

The problem is that I've never been good with the moderation thing with stuff I really like. And for some reason, vegetables are in short supply in this house. If I didn't buy it, we wouldn't even have lettuce. Latin American food is not the most balanced, I'm afraid. It's loads and loads of carbs, tons of protein, and vegetables (if they appear at all), are a tiny side. It drives me nuts, cause I love vegies, even though they gurantee thaat I will be hungry again an hour later.

I can't take walks around the building because there isn't enough space and I would be intruding into my superiors space and the neighborhood is on this side of being sketchy. Four blocks south and you're in the bad part of town. Yet executives and partners drive here in their BMWs and Mercedes. It's very contradictory. I do squats and stretch, though. And I do flamenco wrist exercises everywhere.
