Ugh

I've spent three months without going to the movie theatre and now that I'm finally back in a place where I can afford the ticket prices, ready to pump myself full with as many flicks as I can, there's nothing good on. Not only that, but the two movies I do see are 'eh'. Granted, Quantum of Solace is a decent action movie, quite entertaining, but the only reason I watched it was because I liked Casino Royale so much, which this one doesn't even begin to compare to. You can tell it's a sequel. But the one my Dad took me to today was just... well, I hesitate to call it crap, but if you hate half a dozen false endings, cliched deaths and climaxes, and stale, sweeping music that sounds as if it came out a can, do not watch Australia. I wanted to leave so badly. You're definitely doing something wrong if your audience is bored while someone is getting shot.

I finally bought the Dexter novels today. At Borders for full price, which I don't like to do, but there's only eight business days before I leave and Amazon can be so slow shipping stuff here. Unless I order it Express, but there goes the discount.

Got one Christmas present today. Just one left.

That's too bad that you haven't seen anything good. I hope you find something!

I've been wanting to see Quantum of Solace. It wasn't as good as Casino Royale, though? I really loved that movie.

Hmm, now I don't know whether to see Australia or not. One of my other LJ friends really liked it. I thought it looked pretty good from the previews. But then, I'm pretty easily amused.

There are four movies coming out before I leave that look good, so I hope so.

It's good. I don't regret paying for it. But it's no Casino Royale. It doesn't have the substance that one had.

In my opinion, it could have been good if they'd done a lot of rewriting. I used way too many cliches which felt really stale to me. My Dad liked it, though, although he agreed about the false endings.

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that. Me, I'm holding out for The Mysterious Case of Benjamin Button, although a sick part of me wants to see Yes Man. What? It looks nice! - Quiet you.

Dexter, huh? You'll have to let me know how good those are, if they're worth Border's criminal prices.

I want to see that one. I saw the preview yesterday and it looked so awesome. I have a thing for playing with time and alternate modes of storytelling. It comes out next weekend, along with Milk and The Spirit. Yes Man interested me, too. I love Jim Carrey. But I don't know if I'll have time to see it. It comes out the first and I leave the third and I'm also kinda interested in Valkyrie for some reason, which comes out on the same day.

I started reading the first one in the movie theater while the previews were rolling and I was totally hooked. Though I think I'm going to get them used off Amazon.uk, which I just noticed is much cheaper. I don't know why I didn't think of that before.
