This is why I should NOT get on the internet while working.

It's Wednesday, 6:50 pm. I have an essay due on Monday at 5:00 latest or I'm dead. I have not finished going through the research, which includes this huge book that's all about the subject. During the past two hours, I've googled Bacardi, Puerto Rican rum, tried to find places to get said Puerto Rican rum on this island all the way across the Atlantic, looked up the origins of Bacardi, Don Q, and Ron del Barrilito (now doesn't this make me sound rum obsessed), browsed through lj, failed to find and alternative class for this term, ranted about the lack of rum selection in the shops versus the endless rows of wine (there I go again. Okay, I want to make coquito, a Puerto Rican holiday drink made with condensed milk, coconut milk, and rum, which, being Puerto Rican, means light rum, and they only seem to have the darker varieties and I don't feel like paying double for Bacardi, which isn't that great according to rum connosieurs and is only fake Puerto Rican anyway. Yes, I'm feeling patriotic. It's a bit troublesome over here where not even Salsa is Puerto Rican), and looked up House/Wilson. Oh, and Peter keeps distracting me with his sexuality. Why can't I do research without thinking of porn?

Not that I'm not panicking or anything. I just seem to run away when I'm freaking out instead of actually fixing the situation.

Oh, and I’m falling asleep. Like usual. Me want nap.

ETA: Queee?! The Field Museum is having a Taste of the Aztec World thing now? A bunch of restaurants are going to be sampling Aztec inspired dishes. Not that this doesn't sound like what the British Museum is doing this year, but what is it with the Field Museum having the Aztec stuff when I'm not there? They just had an all Aztec exhibit. Why, Field, why? Would it have killed you do this in the summer? The Field is in Chicago, by the way. Screw it. Some of the best stuff is here, anyway. But I want the food. I'm such a food junkie.

ETA again: I really need to get off this computer. But wait a minute; I just realized something. There's a girl in my class who looks just like Phoebe, Jack's fiancee in 30 Rock. I was so certain that I'd seen her before, only I don't recall actually meeting her. And a girl in my half unit course last term looked like Linda with an I from Doctor Who. Weeird.

I'd imagine, yeah. PR is a fairly tiny place, so I guess...there wouldn't be much in terms of farming and manufacturing.

Heh. All-right...;)

Seriously? You must not be getting the right kinds. I love them. I chop them up and eat them raw.

We used to produce a lot of our own fruit, but through the US's dependency economic model and foreign competition, almost all our our industry is dead. And they make it nearly impossible for a Puerto Rican to set up a company. We have milk, small pockets of coffee (which apparently is very expensive in international markets. We were the exclusive suppliers for the Vaticann until the mid-20th century), rum, fresh bread. I'm trying to think, but there isn't much.

I've tried them everywhere. PR, Mexico, Illinois, here, and except for that one, I haven't liked any. Though I've been sitting at the same table with people who said that the peppers in the meal tasted very sweet while I found them sour, so maybe my tongue perceives them differently. I find tomatoes sweet, though.

Yeah, the US is really good at killing other country's industries ;) Often by importing things from China. It's a little weird.

Well, some tomatoes can be sweet. Some are not. I think it's really dependent on the soil and when they're picked, like grapes.
