Why must Heroes spoilers always dissapoint me?

Proof that yet again everything is about Claire. Once again, I want to punch Kring in the face. Because while I have wanted them to put a gay character back in Heroes for an age now and that's the only thing that might make me tolerate this (not that I have a choice since Kring and Co. are obviously in love with her), why, god why does it have to be Claire?! Peter Anyone else would have been such a better choice, but noooo. It has to be Claire. The golden child with the power to bore millions and make me scream at the TV (something I rarely do, but with her it's a weekly occasion. This on top of these eyeroll worthy Peter spoilers (or maybe that's me with my humongous bias) does not help my peace of mind about next season.

*waits patiently for the new season of Fringe to begin*

Because girl!kissing is hot, and boy!kissing is disgusting. Especially since Claire still has (and has always had) a significant straight, male, teenaged fanbase, and they will more than tolerate her making out with a girl (as long as she still likes boys, of course) than they will tolerate Peter/Mohinder/Whoever being a central character and gay in any way at all.

I honestly can't say I'm surprised. Or disappointed. It's...it's network tv. I'm mostly amused at the new beard girlfriend Peter is apparently getting; Simone was black, and hated, Caitlin was foreign, and hated, so what's the best route? A deaf person. Because no one with a conscience could hate her! Did I say amused? I mean pissed off. Not because they're bringing her in, not even because they're making her Peter's girlfriend, but because they're bringing her in specifically as Peter's girlfriend, for, I'm pretty sure, the exact reason I outlined above. I absolutely hate it when people are brought in as love interests.

And let's face it, she's going to be written off in, like, a week. Maybe she'll last the volume, but...that doesn't seem likely.

So I've sworn off Heroes spoilers, for now. Because they just make me pissy.

Yes. That's precisely it, which is why I'm so disappointed about this. I always cling on to some meager amount of hope for some stupid reason and I don't know why.

Can you explain the "beard" term? I don't know what it means.

Oh, I can hate a deaf person. I don't know if she's hatable yet, but I don't discriminate. And that's another thing that I hate. This whole formulaic obsession with having love interests on a regular basis and the fact that so often the male writers justify it (in interviews no less) by claiming that it's so the women will be interested. *head desks so hard* This industry so needs more female blood. These people don't know what the hell they're doing. I am way too worked up about this, but it's the accumulation every show I've watched put together.

Hunh. Well, y'know, on the up side, Claire being basically the show mascot... it's pretty cool of them to make her bi (not to mention good news for the Claire/Elle 'shippers, one of which I could be persuaded to call myself). They could've made some teeny tiny side character gay, given them a hint of screentime and called it a day, but no. They're giving their darling cheerleader the gay romance. That's pretty cool to me.

The new beard for Peter, OTOH... *sigh* Poor girl. Poor.. poor girl. I wonder what horrific fate they'll come up with for her.

But she's also the hot, blonde, young girl who is famous for having fanboys drool all over her. And they're going to have her kissing another girl on tv, a major boy kink. Not a coincidence, that. I've seen it happen way too many times. That's why there's much more lesbian kisses than guy kisses on TV. I hate how even a cool thing like this gets tainted like that. And I also hate Claire. I'm biased. I admit that. I'd rather they bring Monica back, integrate her into the plot, and make her gay.

I honestly don't care what happens to her as long as she goes away fast. This always happens when I get way too involved in a slash pairing (ie. Plaude). There comes a point when I can't bare to one of the characters I ship with some other woman on screen. I realize it's my problem and I should just get over it, but I can never make it stop bugging me. I just need to write original slash already. I also need to calm down, don't I?

Well, yeah, guys think it's hot, but then so do lesbians and bisexual women. Heck, I'm not exactly turned off by it myself, so I think in the end I can appreciate the bravery of going in that direction with such a mainstream character. I would've been happier to see Monica return, though. They totally could've made her gay.

We-ell, I think it's important to accept the fact that the odds of Plaude becoming canon are pretty infinitesimal. A sad fact, but inescapable. So you just toss your hands up and try to enjoy the latest love interest as her own character. And also write original slash, which my comment voyeurism informs me is well worth the effort. Something about lonely space captains and nubile club dancers..?

*sigh* I suppose this all about me not liking Claire one little bit. I've never found her attractive because of that even though part of my brain recognizes that she's hot. That's the way my brain works. If it were any other female character, I'd be all over it right now. I'm bisexual myself.

I know, but for some reason I keep hoping that one show somewhere will give it to me, but the industry is still too dominated by heteronormative principles for that.

Original slash would cheer me up incredibly. That's what I do every time a show screws up my slash pairings to make myself feel better. If they're not going to give it to me, I'll just do it myself. Now if I could only get said stuff published (or preferably, on the screen).

Oof, that's rough, not liking such a focused-on character. Good thing Peter gets just a bit more attention than her, huh? I guess, maybe, you could kind of forget what Claire's like and just look at her as the show's principle female character?

Same. I honestly thought they might go for it with Matt/Mohinder in S2, but that went over like lead balloon. Right now, my personal most likely candidates are Shawn and Lassiter on Psych- I don't know if you've seen it.

It is a problem, though it's bound to happen in an ensemble show like this. But at least when they're not the principal character, they're easier to ignore. That's why I stopped watching Lost. I just got tired of having to deal with Jack and Kate who were obviously not going away. Unfortunately, I love Peter too darn much, so I'm unwilling to follow the same tactic in this case. *hugs Peter* Why can't Angela be the principal female character? I love her. And she's the matriarch, automatically making her the coolest woman around. Now I'm afraid they're going to kill her just because of that.

That would have been such an excellent opportunity (two dads, come one, people), but yeah. I have seen Psych. And I like it. But the sites that have the second half of the show uploaded don't like me, so I've only seen the first half. I'm waiting until I get Netflix again in Illinois to rent it. Those two are so wonderful together. I think one of my favourite episodes is the one where Shawn has to help him get into that Masonic club and Lassy is freaking out that his father in law might be the murderer.

Of course you get to read it. I just have to write it first. At some point.

I've probably only stuck with Lost because I've watched it with my friends, and they all dislike Jack and Kate even more than I do, so, y'know, troubles shared are halved and all that. Angela would make a fantastic principle female character! Boo. I wouldn't worry too much, though. Like Noah, Angela's just too awesome to kill.

Oh, it gets slashier than the Masonic club episode. There comes a time where Shawn will exclaim to Lassiter, "You are so sexy right now!" Jeez, come on, show, can't you see how cool it would be to have the staunch and uptight detective hook up with the laidback and eccentric fake!psychic? I mean, if one of them was a chick they would've been all over that ages ago.

I think it sends a good message to high school kids that 'the gay character' can be the confident cheerleader since it usually ends up being an outcast in most media. I say this both as a Claire fan and as a girl who thought I was a freak in high school because I liked girls, and I think that seeing someone like Claire on tv in a nonheteronormative role would have really made me feel a lot more comfortable with myself. She had wonderful chemistry with Elle and I shipped them like burning, so I really do hope that this rumor pans out.

I do feel bad for the people on my flist who don't like Claire (there've been a few posts similar to yours), but the idea makes me nothing short of gleeful.

I admit that I don't like Claire at all (I did in season 1, but then the writers screwed her up), so seen onscreen makes me cranky. In my personal case (bisexual), I never found anything weird in my liking girls. Until quite recently, I did label myself as straight because I do lean heavily towards guys, but I always liked looking at breasts and it was completely normal for me. When I first red a magazine article about homosexuality when I was 12, I could not understand why anyone would find it strange. Later on I learned, of course (some people are idiots). Seriously. It was never an issue for me. Coming out to friends and family, that yeah, tricky as hell (I confess I haven't done it; Catholics).

I'm kind of split down the middle on this. On one hand it comes off as a total ploy to get the boys watching than character development and what is more droolworthy than two girl kissing. Yet I think it's a bold move for them to make Claire of all people bisexual, if that is indeed what they do.

As for Peter I think the survival of his girlfriend depends more on how the fanrbase responds to her. Personally I liked Simone and I thought with her connection to the story in S1 she was sorely underused.

I guess that's the way I see it, too. It's just Claire that bugs me. I haven't been really paying attention during her scenes for a while now. It's Lost all over again.

I like Simone, too, but she never belonged with Peter. Maybe way further down the line if she'd managed to get over Isaac, but those two just exuded chemistry.
