Summary: Just a bit of fluff. Kensei makes a surprising confession.

Disclaimer: I own nothing but my own words.
"I love you."
Hiro's chopsticks plunked on his plate from his suddenly limp hand.
"What?" was all he could muster.
"I said," Kensei said a little louder, still not facing him, "I love you."
Hiro tried to think. It didn't work. Then he tried to speak, hoping that his tongue formed something coherent
"But you said that you loved Yaeko!"
"I lied."
"Why?"
"Because of you."
"Me?"
"Well, you kept insisting that she was my princess and that we were destined for each other and that if we didn't end up together the space/time continuum would unravel and descend into chaos. I couldn't get a word in edgewise."
Hiro tried to think again, with a bit more success.
"And you love... me?"
Kensei looked defeated.
"Yes. I thought maybe... I mean, you've been staring at me lately, with this yearning... well, what I thought was a yearning look in your eyes. I guess I might have been wrong."
Hiro knew perfectly well what stares he was referring to. He'd hoped that Kensei hadn't noticed, prayed even. If what Kensei said was true, then... Butterflies started multiplying in his belly. But no, he couldn't…
"But we can't!" he exclaimed. "What about history?"
Kensei dropped his head into his hands. "Oh God, not again."
"If things don't happen the way they're supposed to, everything will change. I'll never be able to get back. I'll-"
Kensei cut off Hiro's impending panic attack by suddenly grabbing him by the shoulders and kissing him senseless. His plate slipped from his fingers, splattering rice and chicken all over their clothes. He couldn't really bring himself to care. When Kensei finally released him, his brain had melted into goo and his arms were firmly wrapped around Kensei's back.
"Did you like that?" Kensei asked, smirking in a way that was entirely too arrogant and self-satisfied.
He tried to say something, but coherence had taken a nosedive off the premises.
"Hiro."
"Huh?"
"Don't you think that maybe you're supposed to be my princess?"

You know, every time I see that icon, I keep staring at it for like five minutes. I love that moment to bits.

We need more fics for this pairing in general, because despite people saying they see it, I haven't seen much of an increase in fic, and there are so many inspirational moments in the show!
Great fic and I hope you keep up the good work!

I like that line, too. Hiro just sounds like a broken record sometimes. This pairing really does need more fics. I do plan on writing more about them, especially after what happened in this episode.

I know! If this had happened instead, Adam would have never turned evil, the Company wouldn't exist and none of that mess would have ever happened.

Someone should draw that.
*like maybe me, if I wasn't so lazy*

Images like that make me regret not developing my drawing talent. Oh well, I"ll just have to write them instead.
