I'm sick again! What the fuck?! I'm getting a plant as soon as I get back to detox the air in here, see if that helps. I've wanted to get one since I got here, but I was worried no one would be around to take care of it while I was gone for the holidays. My immune system isn't this weak, for heaven’s sake. I once went a stretch of 2 years without getting a cold. Last year, my uni had a cold epidemic for three months. I didn't get sick once. On the other hand, these colds are lasting only about a week and are nowhere near as bad as they usually are, so that's odd.
Meanwhile, the tip of my little finger keeps falling asleep because of the bruise in it. It comes and goes.
I bought raspberry sauce that's called "Very Lazy". I'm not kidding. That's not the brand, but it says it right at the front of the jar.
I keep thinking that it would have been so much cooler if Kaito had put the catalyst in Adam instead of Claire. I'm not sure if someone else mentioned this before.
Arthur: Where's the catalyst?
Minion: Well, sir. Please don't kill me for this, but it seems that Nakamura put it in, um, Adam Monroe.
Arthur: .....
That would just be hilarious.

Oh, and, the sickness thing: you're spending a lot more time in confined spaces, what with all the research and school stuff, and you're in a freshman dorm, and everyone knows those are germ factories. Plus, as dramatic a change in climate as you went through is going to hit your immune system for six. Just a fact.
From:

But when I lived in a dorm in Chicago I didn't get this sick. And those were even lower temperatures.
From:

True, but London air is...a lot muggier and crappier than Chicago, at least from what I remember of both. That can't be helpful if your immune systems already a little whacky from the move and the stress.

There was that one time in Illinois when I got a three cold sin two months, except that those were much worse. But this one might be a regular cold, because I have sore throat, which is the MO for my colds, and the previous too didn't have that. That's not good. My colds last for two full weeks.

fucking Claire being so fucking important as per usualwhatever the writers are going to come up with.Damn, that sucks. Especially when you have a lot of work to do, and then all you want to do is sleep and sip tea and you can't. I hope you feel better, and I guess I'm supposed to counsel you to make sure you get a lot of vitamin c, and drink chicken soup.

At least I've been taking it easy this weak since i handed in essays on Monday. I hope that I only have one essay due on January, though. If it's two, then I'm screwed. I wonder if the four week loan at the library applies on holidays. I haven't seen anything that says otherwise. Then I could
sneaktake some with me.I do have to eat my veggies, too. Although I eat tomatoes every day. Those have vitamin c. I need Adam's ability. (I never think of it as Claire's ability, even though she came first. Heh).
From:

Ohh, that's good. I hope you're able to get the books you need, since I'm guessing you're going back state-side.
Well, Adam's ability technically came first. Chronologically. And that's an interesting thing I always wonder about: does it mean he can't get a cold? I mean, I guess if he can't get THE VIRUS!!1!!...but maybe he just thinks he can't. It would be hilarious if he'd released it only to get sick with it almost immediately and been like..."Ooops."

This show should have at least one snarky British character per season. It makes everything so much better.
Yeah, I'm going back to PR. And I'm buying a bunch of books for my dissertation, so that will help.
True. I guess his immune system is so strong that it can fight off evey kind of germ you throw at it. You know, I got the most hilarious image of Adam languishing in a bed with a fever of 108 degrees and this cartoon of his immune system and the Virus in the midst of this epic battle with swords and everything. Like those cartoons they use to teach kids about the reproductive system.

Or two. Two's better.
That's good, and at least you'll get some...warmth and sunshine, right?
He would be such a bad patient, because he's so not used to it. Heh, and he would totally imagine it like that; like something out of the Magic School Bus.
From:

But I don't like tropical sunshine. At least it's 70s at this time of year and not unbearable like the rest of the time. No one here understands me when I say that I'm sick of the constant heat.
Why does this want to turn into a bunny now? *curses overactive muse*
From:

Oh, I'd be sick of it too. But I think the warmth and sunshine might scare off the disease a little.
Hee. You should see me and my plans for Claude in London fic. Hey, maybe you should write that one, you're actually in London!

But the sun makes me sneeze. Seriously. Though I suppose lack of chilly wind might help.
London Claude fic! Yay. I have been trying to get a one-shot Claude idea, but so far nothing. But then I feel guilty because I should be working on Dust to Dust, which I have been brainstorming for in my idleness, actually. If you need info on anything, feel free to ask. One of the plethora of reasons I came here was to be able to write British characters properly, actually.
From:

Heh, same. Who knows why that is? Lack of chilly wind is awesome.
Hee. I was just joking with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] that, given our mutual desire to read young!Claude fic, and our mutual fear of crapping such a story up, the only real solution was to set up a collective to send someone to England for research purposes. But I will definitely take you up on the offer.

teenage angstyouthful energy for that. But I do like Daphne, which surprised me, because I was hating the whole Hiro's nemesis thing for obvious reasons ;) And that's true. I'm so disappointed with what they've done with Elle and Sylar. It's sad when a show makes you wish that that a character had stayed dead in S1 one.One of my nephews is the same.
Well, there you have it. Although young!Claude would be what? 70s? 80s? I do know people who were around here back then.
From:
no subject
Well, he was born in 1964; so, he'd be 18 in the early '80s. But admittedly, the plot bunny I'm...chasing down is mostly present day stuff, with the weird not!twins in London.
From:
no subject
Cool. But... who are the weird not!twins?
By the way, if he's walking in central London during rush hour, he'd get free newspapers thrust in his face at every major intersection. It's a little irritating.
From:
no subject
Heh, in the GN's he's in, the two weird kids who appear to be his students/wards/new companions and apparently live with him in the crazy big house in London.
*snort* Maybe that's why he's developed such a talent for invisibility. Hates those damn free newspaper thrusters.
From:
no subject
Crazy big house? Why haven't I read these things again? Right, work. *cries* And now I feel so lazy.
I wish I could become invisible to avoid them. Although now that I think about it, with the way people walk here, it would be best for him to avoid busy streets altogether. Essentially, people here walk like me. Really fast and seeking any possible opening in the crowd, no matter how narrow, to sneak by. He'd have people bumping into him all over the place. Maybbe he could take backstreets. Those are better.

I'm writing an Alias/Heroes crossover and tweaking some things about how the powers work. Because after all it's what the writers on the show do, so there.
From:
no subject
Ah, sorry. Well, just the abbreviated version is...he's living in this house that appears to be big and fancy and has a swimming pool, and one of the two non!twins is powered, and she scares Elle off, and that's how Elle ends up in California.
Well, he seems to manage NYC just fine; I think, at least in New York, most people hurrying down the streets have their heads down and ignore anyone they bump into. They probably wouldn't even notice if the person they bumped into was invisible.
From:
no subject
You don't actually bump into many people here, except for the for the shoulder butting that happens in crowded crossways. People are pretty good at weaving their way through the crowd.
From:
no subject
The writers have made these powers so malleable that I'm not sure they care anymore. Kring certainly doesn't.
From:
no subject
Well then see? Claude would have no trouble at all. I actually think in NYC the locals are pretty adept at the weaving themselves; it's just small town girls like me that have trouble.
