I just saw Watchmen. FANTASTIC. Absolutely no complaints from my side (except for that stupid music they had during the sex scene like [livejournal.com profile] tju_tju_tju_tju pointed out; what the hell was that?). But otherwise FANTASTIC. I want that movie so badly. I have never seen a more faithful adaptation in my life. And it's fantastic. No, I will not stop using that word. But OMG, the ending killed me. Rorschach! Night Owl! *squeezes them* Oh my god. That was perfect. It made me want to scream at the screen and cry. I really love the change to the nuclear weapons versus the Cthulhu monster, by the way. Using a Lovecraftian tentacly thing is kinda cliché by now. And Ozymandias has great hair. Have I mentioned that that's my favorite hairstyle ever? (You might have noticed with all the Milo stuff). Also, I want an Archie. I love that little ship.

Speaking of slashy endings that kill me, Reaper makes me sad. Why did Red have to go back to hell? Why? He saved Sam! And did his one good thing! I can't take all this tragedy! *sobs*

Heh. I just finished sorta-reading Watchmen (in that I did the whole read through very fast for plot but didn't catch all the details) thing just to be able to watch the movie, so I'm glad it's good. I'll get to it one of these days. For sure.

I was seriously sniffly about that with Reaper. Because Red...and Sam...and they were...there were drinks and..."Make it look good" and I just...*sniffle*

Oh yes, Nite Owl actually witnessing Rorschach's death was moving and improved from the graphic novel, I think. It just makes more sense from him as a character, although I get why Moore wanted Rorschach to die all alone in the snow.

But JEH was amazing in that scene, seriously.

I love it without reservations. I want to own that movie, like, now. They changed very few things. I can count them in one hand. And they really kept the spirit of it. It's amazing.

It's so cruel. I'm watching it again now. Bedtime? What bedtime? Why must everything be sad? Can't at least one slashy couple have a little happiness?

I almost gasped when Dan started following Jon and Rorschach outside. I kept screaming at him in my head, "No. Don't, don't don't!" And then I remembered the big, "Nooooo!" from the trailer and I wanted to cry. Oh my god. That was awful. And perfect. But awful.

I liked it more than I expected to, I'll admit that, and Dr. Manhattan's whole conversation with Laurie was fantastic. Overall I think I can understand why it's such a classic, even though there were some parts I thought were a little overdone. But nothing's perfect, really.

I know, I honestly thought there'd be some kind of divine intervention there. In my mind there was. Steve swooped in and saved him. Yup.

I want to see it one more time, but I'm pretty sure I really liked it. It just- I dunno, just struck the right chord in me. It's not a perfect film, but it did what it needed to do.

I'm with [livejournal.com profile] visiblemarket, Steve scooped Red up just before he made it back to Hell, and now he's chilling in Heaven, enjoying the reward for his sacrifice.

I liked the movie overall, but some parts really didn't strike a chord at all. The sex scenes were embarrassing, music included.

Rorschach's death was absolutely wrenching. JEH's eyes just burn into your soul in that scene.

I wonder what I would have thought of it if I hadn't read the comic first. But seeing almost all the crucial scenes from the comic recreated so wonderfully on the screen was so amazing that I can't imagine it.

I subscribe to that as well. Sending Red back to hell is just too evil. Poor guy. *hugs him*

Yeah, those were pretty bad, although it's all from the comics. But the second one loses a lot of symbolic significance in the movie since it was playing off something else in the comic.

That killed me. In the comic it was almost pushed aside, so I wasn't expecting the impact of that at all.
