After buying a new modem, we have internet again. Unfortunately, now the Router doesn't want to work. It connects to the computer fine, so it's probably because it's a new modem and it's going, "Who the hell are you?" I need to call my nephew tomorrow to see if he can coach me through fixing it (he graduated from a computer degree, so he's one of our go to guys). We can connect with the Ethernet cable, but I have to be at my grandfather's desk for that, so for the moment I only have internet for part of the time. At least there's internet in the house. For those couple of hours when there was none, I was having a low key freakout. I feel disconnected without it. *hugs internet*

En lieu of being productive yesterday (I got burnout, it's not my fault), I read an original slash novel that [livejournal.com profile] visiblemarket pointed out to me a while back. I was in a book buying haze and thought, 'why not?' I know I could just read fic, but it's a nice experience to read slash on paper. I love the physical experience of reading books. Lying back on the bed, leaning against a pillow, book solid in my hands, not getting eyestrain after five straight hours of reading an epic because I just can't stop reading, which unfortunately I've had to cut down on since my younger, more carefree days. And the Age of Sail setting was too tempting to resist (despite the fact that the Tudors have taken over m life for now, maritime history is still my biggest weakness, although Henry VIII did create the modern Royal Navy. I went to bed at 3 last night because I couldn't put it down. Thoughts of my own novel completely flew out the window. So sad.

Why am I on Amazon looking for more? This is so not what I should be doing.
