I'm so sick of the whole subject. And it's only September. I always hate campaign season, especially in Puerto Rico where politics is the national pastime and half the population is too stuck on their own political parties to use their brain in a rational matter. If I were there, I wouldn't vote for governor this year. There's no one to vote for that's worth even half a damn. I'd vote for the Senate, but that's it. Even our mayor, who always wins, disgusts me. I really wish I could vote in the presidential elections, though, but I'm planning to be in London, so... In any case, I don't think I can take my grandparents saying how Obama has no experience one more time. Not that they're McCain people, but with my grandmother being a huge Hillary fan and the whole experience thing, which of course they're fixated on since they're in their 80s and McCain is actually younger than them. This isn't the first time we have gender gap issues. I just want for November to get here so this whole thing can be over and for Obama to win. Because the alternative scares me.

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting on the Visa. They said that the process takes from 7 to 10 business days and tomorrow is day 10, so I should get an e-mail tomorrow. I get so nervous over these things.

Sorry hon, nothing can beat the Israeli politics. We have a party of domestically oppressed men. And as their voting letter, they chose the one that is homophonous with the slang word for "dick". :D

I understand how you feel. I used to vote for the candidate that looked less bad, and on the latest elections I couldn't decide which one would be the lesser evil so I didn't vote. Turns out that many people couldn't decide too, and this is how a party of pensionnaires got into the government

That sounds atrocious and ridiculous at the same time.

But really, Puerto Rican politicians can give yours some stiff competition. They practically wear their corruption on their sleeves and the members of their party still flock to them as if they were saints who can do no wrong. Our governor got arrested last year on corruption charges, though he's nowhere near as corrupt as his opponent, who used all the tried and true methods on record plus invented new ones. And he took over the president of the Senate's job, who's is from his own party, just because he didn't get to be governor for a third time. And the Mexican government is worse. An article in my university's newspaper says that the only continent that beats Latin America in corruption is Africa. That's how bad it is.

I'm personally a total Hillary fan; but I have to say, now that she's out of the running I am seriously worried about, as you say, 'the alternative' to Obama winning.

GOD, don't let that happen. I may think Obama is nothing more than a charismatic speech-maker, peddling grandiose values behind a pew, but at the moment, I'll take that over McCain any day. Plus, I'm actually starting to like Obama. Just a little. He might do an okay job. *crosses fingers*

--woah, sorry! Did you say you didn't want to hear about politics? =P *sheepish*

That's ok. :) I brought it up, after all.

I basically like both of them, though I don't like that Hillary was one of the main people behind NAFTA, which is yet another huge wrench in the Latin American economy from the US. That's why like Obama more, though he's probably not going to do anything about that, either. I voted for him for senator of Illinois. And seriously, McCain winning is so not a good option by any stretch of the imagination.
