guanin: (The Doctor Ahhhhh)

I need to take a shower. Like really, desperately. But I'm freezing my ass off. I wore three shirts plus my long jacket out today and a scarf and the high was 55. That did not feel like 55! The 50s here feel like 40s back in Chicago. In 60s, I just throw on a jacket over a short sleeve shirt and I'm fine. Over here I'm wearing a sweater and I'm shivering. The wind actually bites you. One of the reason I came over here was because it's supposedly not as cold as in Chicago. Sure, the official temperatures don't drop as low, but I'm wondering if there isn't something else going on because temp isn't necessarily linked to how cold or hot it feels. meanwhile, I'm coughing and I really need a shower. I haven't showered in three days. I have no idea when these people are going to finally turn the heater on because they wait until they're cold to do so and there are people on the street with rolled up sleeves. What the hell?

ETA: Fuck it, I'm taking a shower tomorrow. The low tonight is 40 and tomorrow it's 61/58, so it should be better. Why am I coughing so much?

ETA 2: The The Revenant trailer is one of the silliest things I've ever seen. The link is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=538A7dYC09A because I'm too lazy to embed.

Oh, it's England, they don't even wear deodorant. No one will notice!

I honestly can't believe that London is that cold; both times I've been have been rather on the scorching side. But it must be a bit of a shift, climate wise nonetheless.

Which might even be why you're coughing so much; you'd be surprised how much a change in humidity will effect you. Just give yourself a little adjustment time. And possibly get some lozenges.

Hope tomorrow's better!

But I notice! I feel filthy. And my hair is a disaster and they do notice the hair. It's fashion central over here.

Oh, it is. For the past couple of days at my shool we've been remarking about how cold it is. One of the girls, when she got here from Greece, she said that it was much warmer here than back home. Now she's wearing double or triple layers and is still cold. It's been like this the whole year, though. People say that they didn't have a summer. Maybe you came during a warm trend?

It better be. I have to be out the whole day.

Seriously? Wow, I was totally not in that part of London.

Maybe I did come during a warm trend; or maybe I'm just so hot I heat everything up ;) Okay, that is unlikely. Just blame global climate change, which is what I always do.

*crosses fingers for you* Stock up on scarves and cough drops. And maybe chocolate, I hear that helps.

Sorry about the weather and that you are uncomfortable. This is weird: I was in London, in October, it WAS cold, but we did have hot water in the hotel. And your body DOES need to readjust: both times I flew to USA I got cold-like symptoms (and never when I flew to another place in Europe). Try to rest well on the weekend. Do you have free access to hot fluids?

Yeah, we do have hot water in the shower. What we don't have is hot air, the lack of which is what really affects me. I slept with two long sleeve shirts and two layers of comforters last night. And I woke up with a scratchy throat. Unfortunately, I can't drink any hot fluids because my tongue gets scalded from anything. When I eat soup, it has to be no more than tepid or I'm nursing a scalded tongue for the rest of the day.

But the weird thing is that I came from 60s and borderline 50s in Chicago. I got here in the 60s and it felt colder. I don't know how, but the cold is actually colder over here.
