A substantial amount of the students at my university have been on strike for the last six days. There's only a month left in the semester and they have to decide to go on strike now. My university, the University of Puerto Rico, is actually famous for going on strike whenever something happens that they don't like. This time the problem is that the cost of credit hours is being raised 33%, which means that they will cost around 45 dollars, I think. Now tell that that isn't ridiculous. It's the cheapest university around by far and they still complain. And now some say that tuition should be free. It doesn't make any sense to me, it just doesn't.

The administration isn't backing down. The raise stays. The Student Council is going to hold an assembly tomorrow to decide if the strike will continue. God, I hope it doesn't. By this point I think we're already going to have to lengthen the semester which is really not good.

I knew this was going to happen eventually when I applied here but it's still incredibly vexing to see it in action.
