Why have I not watched this before? Why?! I was up until 3:30 last night watching it. Then I spent all day today except for two hours when I went to drop off some books at the library and buy food. What's wrong with me? Why must these things be so addictive? I even got tired at the end, that sick, "I can't take it anymore" feeling I get after too many hours of TV. But the server that collects user statistics for my hall is broken, so the internet people said they wouldn't be enforcing their 7 GB cap until they fixed that and I've been taking advantage. But I can't do it anymore. It's too much. I need to write and read and omg study. I have two essays due the week after I get back and I have two weeks left here and I don't know the subject for one of them and I'm not getting the finding as much material as I should for the other even though I'm doing it about one of the major Aztec gods. I'm not panicking. I should be by this point and I know it sounds like it, but I'm not.

I identified so much with Liz's tendency to stay in and watch TV instead of going out and meeting people, but I felt less guilty about it because I spent the whole afternoon before starting the marathon yesterday walking around Soho with Tim. Since he's a Londoner, he gave me a tour after eating a sandwich and chips. We stopped by a couple of used record shops and I got two CDS for 5 pounds total. Hee.

The cough has diminished significantly today (and of course as soon as I think that, I start coughing). I don't know if it's because I finally started taking that sugary cough medicine again or if it's just a coincidence.

Must write now. Why am I starting to feel hungry?

ETA: Oh, and I got a 68 on another essay. I'm still shocked about that.

30 Rock is so awesome that I'm having trouble deciding with 30 Rock icon to grace you with. But you will get Past!Pete, I have decided, because it is hilarious, and also reminds me of Heroes. Plus, I loves me some Pete.

I also adore Liz and she reminds me of me and I know (and hope) I will be just like her in about 20 years.

I keep wanting to re-watch it now. It's so cool and funky and flat out silly. And Alec Baldwin is so hilarious. One of my favorite Jack scenes ever is when he play-acted Tracy's family in therapy. And when he was screaming at Geiss (I don't know how to spell that) to wake up from his coma. And Pete! Sneaking around with his own wife. On Liz's bed! And her table. *shakes head* You know, I wondered about that icon but definitely saw the Heroes sense. Pete looks good with that wig, but it just wasn't Pete Pete.

I have so many things in common with Liz, like the geekiness and the social deficiencies and lack of proper fashion sense. Also unloading my crankiness on other people, though not so insultingly. And my need to have the food I want when I want. Though I refuse to touch those Cheetos things. She makes my lack luster eating habits look good. Plus, her complaints about wearing heels or dresses sounds just like me.

It really is, but there's still a hint of reality behind everything. Like the madcapness of Liz trying to deal with Tracy and all his issues, there's the absolutely ridiculous stuff, but you get the feeling that when Tina worked at SNL she probably had to do stuff just like that. Oh, one of my favorite, Liz-Lemon-Is-Totally-Me moments comes from that episode with Pete cheating with his wife: when Greenzo makes her spill her coffee on her shirt, and she's like, "You jerg, I just bought this! Three years ago!" Because...yeah. I would so say that. Alec Baldwin is just genius, throughout.

Heh, I love it when Liz gets insulting. I don't know if you've seen the episode with Jennifer Anniston in it yet, but she says that, "She's like the human macarena; something everyone did at parties in the '90s." And I laughed and laughed. Ohhh, I have so much love for Liz freaking out about her food. "Where's my mac and cheese?!?!?!"

There has to be stuff she got from real life, possibly exaggerated or mixed with something else. I wonder what.

I´ve seen everything. Everything! In two days! And I just watched three of them again! I must stop using exclamation marks!

Oh, and I specially adore how viciously hostile she gets when threatening people.

"I don't know how you're going to do it, but you'll get me another sandwich, or I'll carve up your face so bad that that you'll have a chin. You'll all have chins!"

*after Josh betrays her to the Daily Show* "I want you to crush him!"

"Get down and do the worm!"

Hee! I bought the whole first season on DVD. I'm still not sure about the second, which I did love, it's just expensive!

"I will cut you open like a tauntaun!" Ohh, I adore viciously hostile and aggressively nerdy Liz.

And the worm is hilarious. And "Suck it, I do read the paper!"

Amazon has the first season for 18 bucks. But the second season is 25, evn though the original price of the first season is 50 and the second forty. That might have gotten confusing. OMG, the entire series of Arrested Development is for fifty bucks! I've been wanting to get this series since ever. And I also want the first season of Dexter. And it's Christmas and I have to buy presents for people. Aaah! I need a job. Next term, next term. Oh, god, I think I'm going to buy it.

Oh, pop culture references. I love those. Like Frank explaining his flow chart for why the pron video game couldn't be done with Star Wars.

Congrats!

So...there's no such thing as 100 in UK grading system?

From: [identity profile] guanin.livejournal.com

Thank you!

I'm thinking no, since 70 above is a distinction and you can only get 80 if you're super amazing. I really don't see the sense of having it structured like that.

From: [identity profile] fleur-eternelle.livejournal.com

And how do you UK grades translate into USA/Puerto Rico grades? Does your 68 = 90? Meaning, when people from other countries' ed. systems look at these grades, how do they perceive them?

From: [identity profile] guanin.livejournal.com

I have no idea. I know that 60s are good, 65 above is a merit, 70 above is distinction, 80 is incredibly hard to get. 50 is the passing mark at my uni, though 40 is in some colleges, though that might just be undergrad. Otherwise, I'm still totally confused.
