Okay. I live in a dorm, right? A dorm with shared bathrooms on every floor. Every floor is divided by sex. You get women on one floor, men in the next, etc. Since we have single rooms versus the fully equipped flats of my previous dorm (where floors weren't stratified this way, I think), I'm assuming that the reason here might be, oh, I don't know, the shared bathrooms, where at any given moment someone is getting out of the shower draped in a skimpy towel or is washing her face or the other stuff. Otherwise known as the kind of stuff I don't like to do in front of anyone, but I make do as long as at least it's a female someone, but then for some reason that I cannot comprehend, guys (yes, male guys), seem to have no problem in wandering in, going to the bathroom, taking a shower, or just hanging out with their female friend while she slaps some makeup on. Am I the only one who thinks this is not acceptable? actually, I know I'm not. I talked about this with another girl my first week here. She's from Singapore and suggested that maybe it was a cultural thing, but it was freaking her out, too. I can't believe I actually miss my old dorm.

That would make me extremely uncomfortable too; you're definitely not alone there.

It gives me the wiggins! I bumped into a guy coming out of the shower the other day and actually stepped back (although he did look kinda cute from the quick glance I gave him and was only wearing a towel around his hips, so I kinda regret not taking a closer look).

Hahaha, well, I suppose it does have its advantages. ;) I'd be more scared of a guy seeing me come out of the shower, though.

I really wish I'd gotten a look at his face, but I was too shocked. Thankfully, I only go in and out fully clothed (well, house clothes), so it's not as much of a porblem, but still.

*shudders* I would really not like that. Stupid boys. We have guys on our floor (right next door, actually), but we have suite bathrooms, so it's just us and our female suitemates. Although it does make us nervous when they have guys over.

It's just wrong!

It's not like girls having guys over is any better. Especially if they decide to have sex, never mind the neighbors. I haven't had that happen to me, but I've heard horror stories.

*nods*

Ugh, don't even want to think about that! We haven't had that problem either, thank goodness.

I would be freaked out too. I would refuse to take a shower when I know that any guy might come in too and that I might accedently stumble on them.

If I was in that situation I would try to find any public showers/baths where at least I would know there is a women only section. (Is there public baths in London?) Or I would just subscribe to a swimming pool and take my showers there without actually going to swim. Lol. I would find ways to avoid my dorm showers for sure.

Cultural thing? Hm... I do not know about that.

Well, the shower stalls are firmly shut cubicles, so that's not really a problem. I stumbled into this guy at the entrance to the bathroom itself. What bugs me more is when I'm at the toilet, you know?

I don't know if there are public baths or not.

Ah, that I would know.

At my job, on my floor, the men's and women's washrooms aren't in the same area, they are about 1 minute of walking distance between them. From the department that I work in the women's washroom is closer that the men's.

On weekends like my department is the only one opened (the team leaders and boss aren't there) the guys take the liberty to go to the women's washroom. I can not really oppose that because it was like this before I arrived, and even if they more or less asked me if I was bothered by it, I just shrugged and said that I didn't mind even if I do.

So every time on weekend when I want to go to the bathroom I have to make sure that ever guy is at their desks and hope that no one goes to the washroom when I am in it.
